Week 7 Video Review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
For the Prairie Style video I learned that he is known for the way he used horizontals, and that he wanted everything to look very natural.  The second video, science of design was an interesting video.  The key concept that I learned is the concept of smart houses.  A computer that links all of the houses systems together and monitors them.  You can tell the computer when to set the alarm, when to change the home temperature and so on.  The third video's key concepts were the clashes in styles.  There were two main clashes. First there was classic architecture and victorian clashing, then there was classic vs. modernism.  The fourth video that I chose was the Imperial Rome video.  I didn't learn much from this video but it was a great visual reminder of their architectural achievements.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? All three expanded on the basics that the book covered.   The third and fourth videos were  related most closely to the readings.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of Architecture?  Yes they add depth, give examples of more works, and they show more about the thought and ideas that go into each artists work.

4. From the group of four that you had a choice: Why did you choose that film? I chose this because of my interest and appreciation for Roman history and architecture.   I chose this because of my interest and appreciation for Roman history and architecture.  I didn't learn much from this video, however I enjoyed looking at many of the great buildings and it was a reminder of how advanced their culture was.
