Week 6 Project

A. What is installation art?
Installation art is presented as a work of art that can be entered, explored, experienced, and reflected upon.  
B. What materials are used installation art?
Any materials that the artist wants to use.
C. Why make installation art? 
Artists realized that going to a museum was an experience for observers and they could use the space inside the museum (an entire room) to create artwork.
D. Which artist/installation did I find most interesting?  I like Ann Hamilton's "mantle".  It is a long narrow room with a long table covered with thousands of freshly cut flowers.  



 A. From the material reviewed, is there a inspiration piece that I feel a connection with? Ann Hamilton's "mantle".  I have a long narrow space that I will utilize for my piece.

B. What theme do I want to explore in my installation? Refer to your textbook if you need to review Themes of Art. (chapter 3 in text)
(Nature, Environment, Self, Mass Media, Consumerism, etc.)

C. What materials will I use?  A shuffle board and plants.  

D. Where will this installation be located and why?  In my house I have a long narrow walkway and I will use a long narrow shuffleboard table, and some plants.

2.   Description – Describe what you see.  (subject matter)?
_______A long narrow walkway with a shuffleboard table. There are plants in a line on the shuffleboard table and pucks in between the plants.  There is another plant behind the table._________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
3.   Formal analysis – (form)  What principles and elements were used and how are they used?
___Line is used.  The plants are in a straight line.  Shape is used with the different sized plants on top of the table.  Light is used by the shadows.  Space is used by being in between the plants. Balance because of the three different plants on the table are balanced by the large plant on the floor.  Scale because of the different sizes in the plants.  Rhythm because of the repetition of the plants._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
